Graves Youth Theatre

Free high-quality theatre experiences for young people aged 11 - 20

Graves Youth Theatre (GYT) will be based in the Graves Park Pavillion, Cobnar Rd, Norton Lees, Sheffield S8 8QA. (NB Rehearsal space is currently not wheelchair accessible.) 
Sessions will be 6.30-8.30pm on Tues and Thurs during school term time. 

GYT aims to give young people high quality drama/performance opportunities, eventually establishing it as an independent body run by the young people.
Paul and Gertie Whitfield will run GYT through Whitworks Adventures in Theatre (WAT). WAT will ensure safeguarding, risk assessment etc is in line with their policies.
GYT’s first project – Railway 200
Broad outline of this exciting first project:


• Sessions start at Graves Park Pavilion on 15th April 2025 every Tuesday and/or Thursday.
• Free day of training with Box House Theatre at the Pavilion Saturday, April 26th 2025. 
• April, May and June devising the script with writer, Paul Whitfield.
• Devising will also serve as an audition in which will be looking for Teamwork, Abilities and Reliability.
• July, August and September rehearsal period. [NB there will be a few rehearsals during summer holidays scheduled around availability of young people.]
• 10th, 11th and 12th October 2025 world premiere performances of play at the historic venue, Barrowhill Roundhouse, surrounded by historic steam trains!
• Subject to availability- the play may be performed at other venues such as the London Transport Museum, village halls, conferences (evenings, weekends and holidays- we will build in flexibility here). 
• Performances will take place across October and November 2025.
